Double Island to Hope Island

mark | May 28, 2018

We pulled anchor at Double Island early Saturday Morning and motored off to the shipping channel. Winds soon built to 20 knots and we were able to hoist the sails and shut the motor off fairly early making a good 7 knots under Genoa and Mizzen sails. Winds grew to the mid 20s and we reefed the mizzen fairly early.

We headed for Hope Island thinking it would be a nice quiet anchorage to ourselves. It was soon evident that we were the 5th boat to arrive. It was nice and calm behind the lee of the island but with 20 knot winds that continued through the night. Total distance for the day was 63 nautical miles.

A good nights sleep was had by all.
