Princess Charlotte Bay to Night Island

mark | June 6, 2018

We upped anchor and headed North for 80 nautical miles to Night Island to join a fishing boat for the night. After we arrived two prawn trawlers arrived to anchor. A windy but smooth anchorage.

Everyone wanted some more tuna so I set up the line. About an hour later we had a nice yellow fin tuna on the hook, as it got to the boat it flicked and headed for the horizon, the one that got away. An hour later and it was Gus’s turn to haul in a tuna, unfortunately it also got away.

Around lunch time Andy spotted a low flying plane fly past. As expected they did a long turn and headed straight for us at a very low level. A few minutes later Border Force 11 called us up for a couple of routine questions.
